Srinagar, Nov 17 (KNO): As the mercury plummets to sub-zero, peak power demand in Kashmir has crossed 1900 Megawatts mark while the power generation from local plants has reduced by nearly 75 percent.
Officials informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that in the past 24 hours, there was a peak power load of 1925 MWs in the Kashmir division. “However, there was an average power load of 1566 MWs during these 24 hours.”
It also said that in the Jammu division, there was a peak power load of 1119 MWs and 885 MWs on an average.
About the power generation from the local power plants of Jammu and Kashmir, the official said that the generation was ranging from 280MWs to 350-380 MWs.
On Monday, power generation plants in Baglihar, PDC Jammu and other Independent Power Producers (IPP) in Kashmir were ranging from 300-380 MWs.
